The Great Meridian Horse Races
About Ways to Bet Odds

About my Tech Sample

For my sophomore tech sample, I chose to produce a horse racing game, using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The sample includes five horses, with different colors, numbers, odds, and characteristics.

Inspiration

Inspiration comes fully from real-life horse racing. The ways to bet are also simulated from actual races. Horses have different odds, speeds, and chances of winning. Unlike professional horse racing, this simulation only has one type of track, and only displays a five-horse race. The odds are constant, and always remain the same.

How to Play

The game is very simple in terms of playability. First, check your balance to see how much you have to bet. Your balance will increase if you win a bet, and decrease if you lose one. Choose a type of bet, (see Ways to Bet page) and choose a horse to bet on. (see Odds page) Then, choose an amount to bet. When ready, "let the games begin!" and see if your horse wins! Then rinse and repeat to win big! Your balance can be checked at any time by clicking the "check balance" button.

Expansion

In the future, if I have time, I would love to expand my horse racing website. Potentially first adding varying bets, and races with more than five horses. A more complex expansion would include even more ways to bet, on many horses at once, or different types of races. (track, grass) This is version 1.0.
